Holy Geeze! 25 years!!

(Lets all pretend that the color and font style are the same throughout this post because frankly I got tired of trying to change it)

January (24
th to be exact) was my parents 25th wedding anniversary. My mom had approached me and said that she wanted to give my dad a surprise party for their 25th anniversary. I figured why should he be the only one that gets the surprise? So I took it upon myself to plan this event (note to self: Don’t do this again). It was a lot of work and I felt a lot of pressure because they were all my decisions and my ideas and I so badly wanted everything to work out! While it wasn’t everything I had envisioned, it was nice, and not quit as nerve wracking as I thought it would be.

I had a lot of help setting up the church gym where we had it, and everyone so kindly let me boss them around, if only I had a bullhorn... darnit, why didn’t I think of that then!? My sister in law made a wonderful Styrofoam wedding cake (I love the look of fondant, but the taste? No thanks, so we did a Styrofoam cake and a bunch of cupcakes for people to eat) She also stayed up with me very late and made cupcakes and frosted cupcakes for the big night! I really do want to thank everyone for their help, especially the last minute help and the showing up to the church early to help! I would also like to thank my grandma and mom for listening to my couple freak outs in the parking lot of Zurchers and listening to my venting as I took my 25th trip to that blasted store! I would also like to point out that my husband helped/took care of all by himself of our children through all of this and had to deal with an incredibly grumpy wife for weeks straight... and he did it marvelously. Anyway. While my mom knew there was a party my dad did not. I tricked him into thinking they had to come to something for the kids (he wasn’t happy to say the least), my mom didn’t know everything I had planned (for example, her best friend coming in from California to be there!) My dad was also just as surprised, not only by the party, but also by his best friend coming in from California as well.

They had a wonderful turnout and (my mom was told to) make rounds and greet everyone once they got there. After they had made their rounds I had them go to the front and I had my little brother Kirk have them re-new their vows (at my mother’s request) I found really cute Dr. Seuss Vows and traditional vows and my brother recited them. They then danced to Lady in Red and then I had a video of a ton of pictures that I showed for them.

Here are some pictures of the night...

The cake and cupcakes (I know so interesting, but there was so much time spent on them that I am making you look at them)

The party:

The vows...

After the party my parents invited their best friends and kids over for some special presents to each other... My dad had saved the champagne from their wedding day and gave my mom engraved champagne glasses...

Everyone toasted!

My mom gave my dad a book all about their wedding year and other fun facts... and apparently it made my dad want to make funny faces at my niece....

And then because this is my blog and I can... I will leave you with my precious boys...
